Friendship - what does it mean to you?

I have spent many hours contemplating friendships lately - probably too many. I have come to the following conclusions that I hope and pray will lead me in the right direction in the future when it comes to allowing people into my life.

#1) You can only count on yourself in EVERY situation, even when you think you can count on others.

#2)It is not worth it to let yourself be judged by people who don't matter and have no loyalty to you at the end of the day.

#3)The people who give you nothing but support and positivity are the ONLY people worth spending your precious time and efforts on.

In light of the recent events that have taken place in my life I have been searching for a lot of inspiration when it comes to friendship type relationships. This has led me to my very own bookshelf which happens to be chock full of quotes and stories that talk about GENUINE friendships. I am hoping these will help me audit out the bad and bring in more of the good relationships that are worth pursuing.

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill

"A genuine friend encourages and challenges us to live out our best thoughts, honor our purest motives, and achieve our most significant dreams." -Dan Reiland

"Oh, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping and then, with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away." -George Eliot

And so much more to come as I make my way through the bookshelves - here is to genuine friends you can count on!
