Wine makes me happy!

Many times I find the blog is one of the easiest places to take notes that you want to refer back to in the future. This year I plan to post many things I would like to refer back to/keep track of. Wines to taste is a list that for me just keeps growing and growing and growing so here is a short list of wines I would like to try in the very near future. Courtesy of one of my favorite food/wine reference blogs: www.epicurious.com I subscribe to their Tasting Notes e-newsletter and find many fabulous wines this way. Much less overwhelming than looking at hundreds of bottles on the shelf.

KWV Steen 2010 - from South Africa-noted as citrusy
Bodega Budini Malbec 2009 - from Argentina noted as cherry & sandalwood

Both are also noted as being good selections with football food- hurray!

Our New Family Member
For about the past year I have been going just crazy with the desire to mother a baby of some sort. I have volunteered, watched the little darlings of many friends, gardened, canned, baked and done many many many activities to pass the time while we hope and pray for our next little miracle. We almost purchased a Golden Retriever puppy in November my mothering spidey sense was so intense. I also consider starting the foster to adopt process at least once a week.
And finally, God has blessed me with a new little some one to take care of. It's a CAT and it lives in our backyard and is eating mice & voles. I am on the fence about naming the kitty Moley or Spruce because it hangs out by our giant spruce tree. I have to confess, this cat is my new favorite family member because I HATE voles! I spend the entire winter just grossed out thinking about them digging around under the snow. I know the mom of the family isn't supposed to have favorites but I don't care MOLEY SPRUCE IS MY FAVORITE! Cooper makes too many messes and Chief sheds.
PS)Moley Spruce is free!

2011: HAVE MORE FUN!
Yes- another year where I resolve to blog more - maybe this year it will actually happen. If not - oh well, there is always 2012!
To start the year, I decided I was in need of a theme, a little bit Ally McBealish I guess, but really I wanted a central focus that was simple enough to inspire the many different aspects of my life. The theme is, drumroll please....................
HAVE MORE FUN
And if you know me well, you are fully aware of how important this is for me. I am the serious one, my dad sometimes calls me "the warden of our family". Following rules, doing things the "right" way, being cautious, careful and considerate of others are my normal modes of functioning. And while I like to think of myself as a fun lover, I know in my heart I could have more fun if I wasn't so hard on myself and others. Hope you are all ready with bail money, alka seltzer and fun ideas-because 2011 is the perfect year to go buck wild!
In my quest to fill my life up with all things fun, happy & positive, I found this quote:
"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; They are the charming gardens who make our souls blossom." -Marcel Proust
The quote made me think about listing my top 5 happiness/laughter generating people and lists are so fun to generate blog discussion from. Here are my top 5:
1)Jeff - my DH- to know him is to love him/laugh at him
2)Cooper - following in a long line of comedians, this kid even cracks himself up
3)Angie O.- we can't talk without yukking it up
4)My Mom - if you wonder why I am so sarcastic, you don't know my mom
5)My Bunco Pals- so many great stories, so many amazing women, can't even do them justice in 1 line.
Who are your top 5?
